Although #DSPRecognitionWeek may be coming to a close, we will continue to celebrate the compassion, skill and dedication of these essential workers year-round. Huge Shout out to the Islip Arts Council on this #FundamentalFriday!The Islip Arts Council has been providing the Prevocational program with the opportunity to come in every Tuesday to volunteer. The Arts Council has displayed understanding and patience while providing the groups with unique experiences. The Prevocational program has been able to improve their social skills while interacting with those in the community by providing pamphlets of events that the Art Gallery is hosting. Today is a very special #workingwednesday as we celebrated our very own Jill Gonzalezs 20-year anniversary yesterday as a Clerk for ACLD!Yesterday, Jill enjoyed cake while she reminisced with coworkers, many of whom she has worked with since her start in 2003. Jill is currently working in the Vocational Services Program. Jill is a vital member of the team, assisting with a variety of different clerical duties. Jill was responsible for filing, photocopying and faxing when she started in 2003 and has since adapted and learned new tasks. Jill is now responsible for scanning, filing and answering phones, just to name a few! Congrats, Jill! The Direct Support Staff are at the heart and soul of ACLDs mission and have dedicated their time, effort and passion to improving the lives of those who turn to us for support. Richardson Cadet, a Lead Day Habilitation Specialist in our Bethpage Day Program, continues to show his dedication to providing the best support by attending regular training to improve his skills and ability to serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
