ACLD continues to carry out its mission, operating its Residential Program for 400 adults with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities across Long Island.
The safety and health of our residents continues to be our priority, as this program remains staffed 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. But we need your help to continue our vital work during this crisis.
We want to get people moving and active, while supporting ACLD’s mission. We are asking our friends, supporters, and complete strangers to join us and get #ACTIVE4ACLD starting the week of Friday May 1 – Friday May 8. Anyone can participate. Let’s get out there and do something positive!
What do I need to do?
Just engage in some kind of physical activity. Any type of activity counts – running, at home exercises, dancing, going for a stroll around the block with your family, etc. This is an opportunity for you to get some exercise, fresh air and have some fun while showing some support for ACLD.
*Please make sure you are adhering to social distancing regulations and wearing a mask when in public.
What do I do once I complete my activity?
Post a picture to social media of you doing your activity using the hashtags #ACTIVE4ACLD and #ACLDStrong. You are encouraged to wear ACLD gear or hold up a sign that includes our hashtags as well to show us what you accomplished, and so we can share your post and give you props!
If you aren’t on social media, don’t worry, just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will give you a shout out on our website too! Share our posts, tag your friends and consider making a donation to our COVID-19 Response Fund [scroll down].
Why should I participate?
Donations made to this fund will help with the changing needs that arise as result of this pandemic. If you are in a position to help, please consider supporting this effort. Plus staying active during this shelter in place order keep us all engaged in a healthy way!
I can’t make a donation at this time; how else can I help?
If you are unable to make a donation at this time, you can still help raise awareness for our cause by posting the picture of you doing your activity with our hashtags #Active4ACLD and #ACLDStrong. Encourage your friends to participate with you and share it on your social media pages.
