ACLD (Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities)

is a leading not-for-profit agency that proudly serves the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The ACLD mission  is to provide opportunities for children and adults with autism, learning and developmental disabilities to pursue enviable lives, increase their independence and foster supportive relationships within the community.

Weather advisory alert:

All ACLD Day Programs will be open today, Friday, February 5th. However, we will not be providing transportation to or from an individual's residence. Staff will be at all locations to receive anyone who can make alternate transportation plans.

The Charles Evans Center will be open Friday, February 5th for normal business hours.

Please note that ACLD's Kramer Learning Center, Alan & Ellen Spiegel Children's Center and the After School Therapeutic Recreation Program are closed Friday, February 5th.



Advocate on Minimum Wage

Call the Governor and Your State Legislators today!

The Governor's proposed budget contains an increase to the state's minimum wage.  The proposal does not include necessary public funds to support the minimum wage increases for Direct Support Professionals, special education staff and other low wage workers whose rate is set by the State.  We, at ACLD firmly believe staff who support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve wage increases; though funds needs to accompany state mandated increases. <<<Read more.

ACLD to Build a Home for 8 Aging -Medically Frail Adults

ACLD received approval from OPWDD to develop a state of the art home for eight adults with significant medical issues in Bethpage. The home will be on our Administrative campus, next to the Charles Evans Health Services Center, which is also in development. This home will be equipped with substantial medical and mobility equipment to allow us to provide the highest quality carefor individuals with significant medical conditions that otherwise would have required nursing home care. In the long term, this home will give us flexibility to continue to serve individuals as they age and develop  more complex medical issues.
